Sports Performance Compression

Introduction to Performance Compression

Compression is used in the medical profession for treatment of strains and anything requiring to be "stabilised" to help recover. It is only recently that the sports industry has begun to recognise the benefits of Compression before, during and after exercise. Extensive independent research has proven that Compression Garments offer a range of physical benefits that lead to increased athletic performance and increased endurance.

Increased Blood Circulation
Graduated Compression of the limbs increases Venous Return or Blood Flow return to the heart and to the Lymph nodes providing a greater rate of oxygenated blood to essential organs and muscle groups thereby offering more "fuel" to the muscles to perform faster and longer.....like a car's Turbo Charger!

Improved Muscle Recovery & Repair
Therapeutic rated fabric as used in the medical profession and has been proven to provide greater recovery benefits by helping the pumping effects of the Cardiovascular system in the body (your heart). This in turn helps to remove excess Blood Lactate from the muscles after exercise leading to a faster rate of muscle repair and recovery and the faster elimination of lactic acid from the body.  Think of compression as the post match massage but stood at the bar!

Reduction in Overall Fatigue
Reduce that wobble......During exercise, muscles receive tremendous exertion that cause immense Muscle Oscillation. This is a major cause of Athletic Fatigue and is significantly reduced when wearing appropriate Compression Garments. The result is  improved muscle endurance, strength and power output and an ultimately improved performance.

Heightened Agility
Heightened Proprioception (physical awareness of your environment and surroundings by your senses other than sight and hearing) increases the senses and awareness for enhanced stability and agility. Proprioception can also help with improved technique as you become more aware of your body's positioning, thereby improving your balance, control and muscular coordination.

Reduced Muscle Damage
High Level Sports Compression Garments, feature muscle containment properties which can also reduce muscle damage under exertion. By reducing muscle damage during exercise and minimising muscle and joint swelling after exercise, appropriate Compression can significantly reduce the severity and duration of exercise induced muscle injury and soreness such as Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) a regular problem experienced by Elite Athletes and those of us at the lower end of the athletic spectrum.
